Police brutality after Church bombing in the city of Alexandria
Three days after the bombing of a Church in the Egyptian city of Alexandria on New Year’s Eve, blamed by the Egyptian government on “outside forces”, hundreds of police in riot gear brutally beat and wound peaceful protesters as they express their disgust at the lack of protection and the complacency by the state. These protesters, as seen in the video, carry no weapons and pose no threat whatsoever but are still beaten with batons with the clear intent to cause maximum harm with no regard to life. In only the few seconds of violence shown in the video below, many are seen with blood streaming down their heads and one lying motionless on the ground, the riot police continue to intimidate and beat the protesters over the screams of women in the back and protesters waving their hands asking them to stop.
The state security apparatus in Egypt is revealing a face that is totally contradictory to its announcements. The brutality crystallised in the video speaks louder than their empty words.
The New Zealand Coptic Association expresses its deep sorrow and disappointment at the handling of peaceful protests and the devaluation of human life in our beloved country of Egypt.
The photos below are for some of the key individuals responsible for this act of brutality, if you recognise any of these individuals please email admin@egypt.co.nz with any information you may have about their identity.

A high ranking police officer watches as the acts of brutality are carried out, he is unlikely to be held to account.
